Shape Tape™ Box Bag

Have you heard about FrogTape® Shape Tape™ yet? I’m betting you have, as it’s taking the blog and DIY world by storm. Shape Tape™ is painters tape cut to easily create trendy patterns. I used it to create the background for my Halloween cat sign, and wanted to give it a go on fabric to see the results.

With the idea of sewing a box bag, I over-cut a swath of finely detailed apparel fabric and applied Shape Tape™ in a tight pattern.

I used metallic craft paint mixed with fabric medium to apply the chevron design. I removed the tape immediately.

The paint dried quickly and I began to sew.

I love the detail that the metallic chevron gives to the otherwise plain fabric. There are so many possibilities with Shape Tape™ and fabric as the holidays approach – pillows, Christmas stockings, tree skirt, placemats, table runners…

Once a craft paint has been mixed with fabric medium the resulting product wears well and can be easily washed.
