I love to DIY, be creative about repurposing things, designing & decorating my spaces and getting crafty. I love sharing our budget friendly DIY projects and tutorials. Lucky me – we have an entire farmhouse full of projects that will take us a lifetime to complete. I’m drawn to cottage style…the cozy vacation feel appeals to me and seems fitting for our big old farmhouse but mostly I just do what I love with a mix of styles. “To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did.’” Join me while I turn this farmhouse into our dream home and a blog into a career.
I also love blogging, meeting new creative blog buddies, sharing awesome before & afters and our passion for DIY home improvement and decorating. I’m addicted and active in the blog community and love encouraging and supporting blog friends. I hope you find some inspiration for your next do it yourself project. Dream.Create.Inspire.Share!
I'm Rhoda, from Atlanta, GA and I love decorating and DIY projects. Decorating a home doesn't have to cost a fortune and I've spent years thrifting at antiques markets and yardsales, finding those treasures that make a home unique. I'm here to inspire and encourage other women to find their own inner creativity. Won't you join me?
Creative has always been in my blood -- my family is full of artistic talents, builders and writers. I first dreamed of being an interior designer when I was 13 years old. That was after my teacher stage and before my decision to follow a career in writing. :)
My degrees are in journalism and public relations, and I enjoyed a ten year career in this field. Along the way, I loved decorating our home and helping friends with theirs. When I had our son a few years ago, looking at him woke something in me. He made me want to follow my dreams.
So that I did. My wonderful hubby supported me when I decided to quit my full time job and pursue my dream of interior decorating. I started working with a local design firm -- first as the owner's assistant, then as a decorator.
I loved that work -- it woke my creative juices even more and I love helping people make their homes more beautiful. But as this blog grew and grew, I knew my heart was here. Since mid-2009 I have focused completely on Thrifty Decor Chick and have thoroughly enjoyed it. It is has been a blessing -- this blog, the people I have met because of it, and the inspiration I get from my readers.
